Continual reinforcement of my belief that Wally is made not born. (rxantos explains well.) Before direct deposit, we got at least a periodic visit from the supervisor who at least had an opportunity to say "thanks" for our work. Afterwards, the handout was just a piece of paper, eventually just dropped in the mailbox, and now eliminated entirely (view your pay stub online if you want it). If it wasn't for the *annual* review, some of us might not even know who our supervisor is.

rxantos, I guess this answers your comment from yesterday about Wally cashing his pay cheque, eh?

In my case, doing good work led to being blocked from promotions, no raises, mental abuse by management and high stress. Those that seem happy at work are those that either Love being treated this way or just don't give a rats butt.

@BritTim; I strongly suspect many workplaces don't need to warn of the dangers of "job satisfaction"!

Interesting health and safety guideline: "avoid job satisfaction as it may lead to life threatening stress". Can we sue our employers if they fail to include it in their guidelines?
