Silly Dilbert.

If your invention is successful, PHB will take credit for it. Then his superior, and the process will continue all the way to the CEO who will then take credit for everything. You will be lucky if you receive a bonus.

But don't worry, If your invention is a failure, then you will receive full credit.

If Dilbert's invention changed the world, he would receive his regular flat commission for an invention that went to market, plus marginal perks if he's lucky.
The CEO would get all the glory at the shareholder meetings, and Dilbert would remain at his current post.
Unless he wants to risk his job by taking the company to court.
