It's really a problem of buck-passing, since the company is basically saying that Dilbert has to go bug the developer of the third party library for an update. It's totally a matter of laziness and cost-cutting on the part of the software developer.
@khpage In the middle panel the vendor is simply saying "the stuff you bought from us was guaranteed to fail at some point. Don't blame us for your poor decision-making."
This 'toon was a bit over my head, as well as most of the blogs. I'm not computer literate enough to understand them. However, I would like to say that the guy Dilbert is talking to looks like he does IV expresso coffee....
