I just meant- make sure you are not blindly following the definition of success as set by unqualified people around you.
And I am not sure that being good at anything must stem from others. Let's say you got the highest SAT score in your school or you are the fastest runner. This is an objective criteria to your abilities and it doesn't depend on anyone's biased opinion whether you achieved success or didn't.
On a side note, I am aware that from a philosophical point of view this is only the beginning of a useless debate so let’s not go there.
