Agree. Although most that call themselves "scientist" are not. They are "scholars".

A scientist base its knowledge on the result of observations and corroborating experiments, while a scholar bases its knowledge on what he read. The scientist seeks the truth, while the scholar seek to fill his ego. A scientist will believe hard data, while the scholar will discard it if it does not fit with his agenda.

In other words a scholar is just a parrot with a title.

Sadly there are far too many scholars impersonating scientist nowadays.

Science is the only reliable way to get verifiable and provable information; all debates and arguments led to was a time where people thought they could figure out the world just by talking... thankfully the enlightenment did away with a lot of that.

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the conditions that surround him... The unreasonable man adapts surrounding conditions to himself... All progress depends on the unreasonable man." -- George Bernard Shaw

Lets not forget that keeping our mouth shut is what allowed the current police state. As it did before on Nazi Germany. We should liberally use the first so we do find ourselves into a situation that requires using the 2nd.

How can you be sure that it is not you the one that is the fanatic? Read Plato "The parable of the cave. " You might just be a prisoner that have not seeing the sun.

I once read in a book:

If you want to be right, talk.
If you want peace, keep your mouth shut.

It works, at least with my wife.
