Depends. Brainstorming at work is seldom fruitful because management is going to do what it wants, and the "brainstorming" is only to pretend the employees have valued input. In other areas, it can work very well. I've been on tons of committees as a vounteer, and brainstorming usually brought out new ideas and formed consensus. That was, of course, because all parties had buy-in and their ideas were respected.

Would like to see Alice "brainstorm" the PHB with lightening bolts coming out of her eyes towards him = a worthwhile way to end the week.....
