We privately call ours "paper tiger" team as everyone on it had no say. the management didn't like that label.

The problem is that most COMPETENT people don't WANT to be in management. They want to do USEFUL things and avoid the company/organization politics like the plague that it is.

One of our supervisors is on her way out, and I suggested to a co-worker that she go for the job. She would be a perfect fit: very smart, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. She looked at me as if I'd suggested she cook up one of her children for dinner. "Oh, God, NO! I don't want anything to do with those politics!" Or the higher-up people she'd be working closely with. When I thought about them, I could see her point. But it's sad; we'll likely end up with a PHB.

Little Dilbert does not comprehend serving in the private sector.

1. It is called 'work'. One does more work not less work. One asks for work and one is paid for work.
2. Innovation is part of the job description and must be faithfully accomplished regardless of an ever increasing work load. The more work you do the more work you get. This is called job security.
3. Criticizim is part of your superiors purpose and is fundamental to leadership.
4. If you do not want to comply we can bring in someone who will.

Put down the latte, turn off the twitter book and the face tube and go back to work - meeting over.
