Ah, yup! There was a 'no personal items in cubes' policy for a while at the academic library where I used to work. Trying to enforce much of anything with the crowd that we were was like trying to herd cats, and their attempt at such enforcement did not last long. But you would have enjoyed seeing just how 'personal' our cubes and offices would be decorated!

@Rickapolis Never had it inflicted on me, but yes it's real. Uniformity promotes high morale by making sure no one feels inferior. Same as school uniforms, but worse. The ants go marching ten by ten... (or should that be Kornbluth's Marching Morons?)

Has this ever really been a company's policy? I have to admit never having heard of 'no personal items in cubicles'.
