An absurd law, to be sure. Sigh! Maybe not as *'stoopid' as China declaring that it's illegal for Tibetan lamas to reincarnate without prior government permission. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry at that one, so I did both.

* 'stoopid' is more absurd than regular 'stupid'...

Am Indian and need to respond.

Just to be clear, gay was not really a dark issue in India till we inherited British common law.
Lots of reference to sexuality in Indian mythology and never was it criminal or a sin. Mostly acknowledged and overlooked.


In this case, the Supreme Court upheld the law as inherited the British. Its up to the law makers to create new laws. We Indians just did not find enough time in the last 60 yrs to rewrite the laws after the British left. And here we are.
