"...an image that captures the status of your project."
How about a picture of the clown wearing the old shoe (but just one old shoe), lying in the storm drain, after having been knocked unconscious with the dictionary, and then strangled with the chain from the broken watch, with the eagle plucking his eyes out? Not sure what to do with the pie chart... but then no one at the meeting would pay any attention to a pie chart anyway.
Powerpoint presentations usually portray a fantasy world centered around the presenter (ex: how the presenter saved the company, the planet, etc.). I really wish people would instead write the real status of their project, as in "We are now three months behind because head of sales dislikes our manager and refuses to cooperate".
BritTim, many USians don't understand irony, and the PHB doesn't think that he's fantasising; he thinks that world will magically flow to confirm to his view of the it, and that this view is boring realism. He can sustain it because he's too stupid to understand people who tell him that it's not true.
